Hi, my name is Deborah Chambers and I live in Port Antonio, Portland, Jamaica. As a Retired Educator with a variety of well-honed skills, I see the need for helping to develop skills training in my parish, as many of our traditional skills – such as sewing and other handcrafts are fast becoming obsolete – with the heavy dependence on store bought items. As a result, I have decided to establish SKILLS 4 LIFE CENTRE 4 Creative Arts (SLCCA) to help close this gap.
The mission of (SLCCA) is to transform lives by equipping and empowering disadvantaged youths and single mothers in Portland, Jamaica, with essential skills and competencies which they can use for entrepreneurship or employment, while equipping employed single parents with viable skills to help them supplement their salaries.
Our vision is to become the foremost institution in the region offering a wide range of choices in skills training; providing well-rounded personnel to satisfy the requirements of the job market.

SKILLS 4 LIFE CENTRE 4 CREATIVE ARTS is an institution which offers skills training in a variety of vocational and creative modalities. SLCCA will position itself as a household name in the parish of Portland which currently has very few skills training institutions. The concept is the brainchild of Ms. Deborah Chambers who, as a Retired Teacher, with a plethora of well-honed skills, has observed the lack/shortage of skills training facilities in the parish of Portland, with persons having to go outside of the parish to access training in a variety of skills.
SLCCA aims to close this gap by introducing courses which are not currently offered in the parish, creating opportunities for school leavers and other interested parties to develop vocational and creative skills which are useful and marketable. The mission is to empower the community with opportunities for education, employment, and entrepreneurship – helping individuals create a better future for themselves and their families.
With your support, this school will provide hands-on training, mentorship, and resources in areas that truly matter—so that students not only learn, but also gain the confidence to turn their skills into real income and independence.
